Science Teacher
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified and passionate Science Teacher to join our school community. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching various science disciplines to students, fostering their scientific inquiry and critical thinking skills.
Responsibilities:
– Teach biology, chemistry, physics, and/or earth science to students
– Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, aligned with curriculum standards
– Encourage scientific inquiry, experimentation, and critical thinking
– Develop students’ scientific literacy and numeracy skills
– Manage the science laboratory, maintaining a safe and organized environment
– Collaborate with colleagues to integrate science with other subjects
– Assess student progress, providing constructive feedback
– Develop and maintain relationships with local science organizations and institutions
– Organize science fairs, competitions, and events
– Participate in staff development and school-wide initiatives
Requirements and Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in science education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related field
– Teaching certification or license (e.g., B.Ed., M.Ed.)
– Minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience in science education
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Strong knowledge of science curriculum and pedagogy
– Ability to adapt to diverse learning needs
– Familiarity with curriculum design and development
Preferred Qualifications:
– Experience teaching diverse age groups (elementary, middle, high school)
– Expertise in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education
– Knowledge of next-generation science standards (NGSS)
– Experience with science fair and competition organization
– Familiarity with educational technology and digital resources
– Experience with grant writing and fundraising
