Senior Student Advisor
Job Summary:
Provide expert guidance and support to students, facilitating their academic success, personal growth, and career development. Lead and collaborate with advisors to enhance student services.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Advising:
1. Advise students on academic choices, career paths, and personal concerns.
2. Develop and implement individualized student success plans.
3. Foster relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
Leadership and Collaboration:
1. Supervise and mentor student advisors.
2. Lead advising teams and initiatives.
3. Collaborate with faculty, departments, and student services.
Academic and Career Guidance:
1. Interpret academic policies and procedures.
2. Provide guidance on course selection, degree requirements, and graduation.
3. Facilitate career exploration, resume building, and job search strategies.
Student Support and Retention:
1. Identify and support at-risk students.
2. Develop and implement retention strategies.
3. Connect students with campus resources.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
1. Analyze student data to inform advising practices.
2. Prepare reports on student progress and outcomes.
Requirements:
Essential Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or related field.
2. 3+ years of experience in student advising or counseling.
3. Strong knowledge of academic policies and procedures.
4. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Doctoral degree in Higher Education or related field.
2. Experience with student information systems.
3. Familiarity with career development theories and practices.
4. Certification in advising or counseling (e.g., NACADA, NCDA).
