Assistant Professor

Job Summary:

The Assistant Professor will be responsible for teaching, research, and service in their academic department. The successful candidate will have a strong background in their field, excellent communication skills, and the ability to create engaging and interactive lessons.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Teaching:

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their academic department, including lectures, labs, and seminars.
Develop and teach online courses, as needed.
Create engaging and interactive lessons that meet the needs of students with varying learning styles and abilities.
Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to help students improve their understanding of course material.

1. Research:

Develop and maintain an active research program in their field, including publishing research papers, presenting research at conferences, and securing funding for research projects.
Collaborate with colleagues and students on research projects, as needed.
Participate in departmental, college, and university research initiatives, as needed.

1. Service:

Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities, including committee work, student advising, and community outreach.
Serve as a mentor to undergraduate and graduate students, as needed.
Participate in professional development activities, including workshops, conferences, and training programs.

1. Curriculum Development:

Develop and revise curricula for undergraduate and graduate programs, as needed.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement new courses and programs, as needed.
Assess student learning outcomes and program effectiveness, as needed.

1. Student Advising:

Advise undergraduate and graduate students on academic and career matters, as needed.
Help students develop academic plans and career goals, as needed.
Assist students with graduate school applications, job searches, and other career-related activities, as needed.

Requirements:

1. Education:

Earned doctorate in their field or a related field.
Strong background in their field, including coursework, research, and practical experience.

1. Experience:

At least 2-3 years of experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
At least 2-3 years of experience conducting research in their field.
Experience with curriculum development, student advising, and community outreach, as needed.

1. Communication Skills:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts to students, colleagues, and community members.

1. Analytical Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to analyze data, evaluate research, and develop evidence-based solutions.

1. Leadership Skills:

Strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead teams, collaborate with colleagues, and mentor students.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Postdoctoral Experience:

Postdoctoral experience in their field or a related field.

1. Experience with Technology:

Experience using technology to enhance teaching, research, and service, including experience with learning management systems, online course platforms, and multimedia tools.

1. Experience with Diversity:

Experience working with diverse populations, including students, colleagues, and community members from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

1. Awards and Honors:

Awards and honors for teaching, research, and service, including national and international recognition.
