Assistant Professor
Job Summary:
The Assistant Professor is a tenure-track faculty position that is responsible for teaching, research, and service to the university and the profession. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach courses in their area of expertise, conduct research and publish scholarly articles, and participate in departmental, college, and university service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching:
– Develop and teach courses in the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs.
– Prepare and deliver lectures, lead discussions, and facilitate student learning.
– Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials.
– Evaluate student performance and provide feedback.
1. Research:
– Conduct research in area of expertise and publish scholarly articles in refereed journals.
– Present research at conferences and workshops.
– Develop and seek funding for research projects.
– Collaborate with colleagues on research projects.
1. Service:
– Participate in departmental, college, and university service.
– Serve on committees and task forces.
– Participate in accreditation and assessment activities.
– Engage in community outreach and public service.
1. Advising:
– Advise undergraduate and graduate students.
– Help students plan their academic programs and choose courses.
– Provide guidance on research projects and theses.
1. Professional Development:
– Stay current with developments in the field.
– Attend conferences and workshops.
– Participate in professional organizations.
Requirements:
1. Education:
– Earned doctorate in the relevant field.
– ABD (all but dissertation) candidates may be considered.
1. Experience:
– Teaching experience at the university level, preferably in the relevant field.
– Research experience in the relevant field.
1. Skills:
– Strong teaching and communication skills.
– Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
– Strong research and publication record.
– Ability to secure external funding for research projects.
