Assistant Manager IT
Job Overview:
The Assistant Manager IT supports the IT Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company’s IT infrastructure, ensuring the efficient use of technology, and providing technical support to staff and users. This role involves coordinating IT projects, troubleshooting technical issues, managing IT resources, and ensuring the security of systems and data. The Assistant Manager IT will also work to streamline IT processes and implement best practices for improved operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- IT Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support to staff, resolving IT-related issues promptly and ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Manage helpdesk operations, responding to and resolving user queries related to hardware, software, and network issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT infrastructure and application issues, ensuring systems are up and running effectively.
- Escalate complex technical problems to senior IT staff as needed.
- System and Network Administration:
- Assist in maintaining and administering the organization’s network, servers, databases, and hardware.
- Ensure that the network infrastructure is secure, stable, and performs optimally.
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and updating of software, hardware, and network systems.
- Monitor system performance and ensure that systems are optimized to meet the organization’s needs.
- Project Management:
- Assist in planning and managing IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with different departments to understand their IT needs and provide solutions.
- Ensure smooth implementation and rollout of new IT systems, software, and upgrades.
- Prepare project documentation, such as timelines, progress reports, and user guides.
- Data Security and Backup:
- Assist in implementing and maintaining security protocols to protect the company’s data and IT infrastructure.
- Ensure regular backups of critical data and manage the recovery processes in case of system failures or data loss.
- Assist in conducting security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify potential risks.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, privacy policies, and regulatory requirements regarding data security.
- Inventory and Resource Management:
- Maintain inventory of IT hardware, software, and licenses, ensuring all equipment is up to date and properly accounted for.
- Coordinate the procurement of IT equipment and software as required by different departments.
- Manage the allocation and distribution of IT resources across the organization, ensuring efficient use.
- Collaboration and Team Support:
- Work closely with the IT Manager and other team members to enhance IT operations and provide effective solutions to technical challenges.
- Provide training and support to staff on IT systems and best practices for using technology effectively.
- Assist in creating and maintaining user manuals and documentation for IT systems and processes.
- Technology Upgrades and Innovation:
- Research and recommend new technologies that can improve efficiency and productivity within the organization.
- Stay up-to-date with technological advancements and trends to ensure the organization’s IT infrastructure remains competitive and secure.
- Assist in implementing new technologies and systems to enhance business processes.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of IT operations, service requests, and incidents.
- Provide regular reports on system performance, security, and helpdesk activities to the IT Manager.
- Document all IT policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure consistency in operations.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Additional certifications (e.g., ITIL, CompTIA, Microsoft Certified) are an advantage.
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or a related field, preferably with experience in a managerial or leadership capacity.
- Experience with IT infrastructure management, network administration, and technical troubleshooting.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of IT systems, networks, and hardware components.
- Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and office productivity tools.
- Proficient in troubleshooting software, hardware, and network issues.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of data security, backups, and disaster recovery processes.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- Proficient in using IT management tools and systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
