Information Counseling Officer
Job Summary:
The Information Counseling Officer provides accurate and timely information, guidance, and support to students, staff, and faculty on academic, personal, and professional matters. They help individuals navigate institutional policies, procedures, and resources, and provide referrals to relevant support services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Information Provision: Provide accurate and up-to-date information on institutional policies, procedures, and resources.
2. Counseling and Guidance: Offer guidance and support on academic, personal, and professional matters.
3. Referral Services: Refer individuals to relevant support services, such as academic advising, mental health services, and career counseling.
4. Communication: Communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds.
5. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions with students, staff, and faculty.
6. Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments and units to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support.
Qualifications:
1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., counseling, education, psychology).
2. Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a counseling or guidance role.
3. Knowledge: Strong knowledge of institutional policies, procedures, and resources.
4. Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master’s Degree: Master’s degree in a relevant field.
2. Certification: Certification in counseling or a related field.
3. Experience with Diverse Populations: Experience working with diverse populations, including students with disabilities.
4. Knowledge of Career Development: Knowledge of career development theories and practices.
