Lab Demonstrator
Job Summary:
The Lab Demonstrator will assist in the preparation, delivery, and supervision of laboratory classes, demonstrations, and experiments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the relevant scientific discipline, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with students and academic staff.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lab Preparation: Prepare laboratory equipment, materials, and experiments for classes and demonstrations.
2. Lab Supervision: Supervise students during laboratory classes, ensuring their safety and providing guidance on experimental procedures.
3. Demonstrations: Assist in delivering demonstrations and experiments to students, explaining complex scientific concepts and principles.
4. Student Support: Provide support and guidance to students, answering questions and helping with experimental procedures.
5. Lab Maintenance: Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment, ordering supplies, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
6. Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and revision of laboratory curricula, ensuring alignment with academic programs and learning outcomes.
Qualifications:
1. Education: bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics).
2. Laboratory Experience: Laboratory experience, preferably in an academic or research environment.
3. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students and academic staff.
4. Safety Awareness: Strong awareness of laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Advanced Degree: Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline.
2. Teaching Experience: Teaching experience, preferably in a laboratory setting.
3. Specialized Skills: Specialized skills or certifications in areas such as laboratory safety, instrumentation, or computational modeling.
4. Leadership Experience: Experience in a leadership or supervisory role, preferably in a laboratory setting.
