Job Summary:

The Education and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing educational programs and community outreach initiatives that promote awareness, understanding, and engagement on a specific cause, issue, or organization. This role involves coordinating educational events, managing relationships with community partners, creating resources, and engaging target audiences to encourage participation and learning. The Education and Outreach Coordinator works to expand the reach of educational initiatives and foster positive community relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Development and Implementation:
    • Design, develop, and execute educational programs and outreach activities that align with the organization’s mission and objectives.
    • Create engaging content and curricula for workshops, classes, seminars, or events that address the needs of various target audiences (e.g., students, community members, professionals).
    • Ensure that all educational programs are accessible, inclusive, and meet the needs of diverse participants.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts, faculty, or community leaders to create content and presentations that are informative and relevant.
    • Organize and facilitate workshops, presentations, training sessions, and other educational events.
  2. Community Outreach and Engagement:
    • Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, schools, businesses, and other community stakeholders to promote educational programs.
    • Identify and reach out to new communities or groups that could benefit from the educational offerings.
    • Promote educational programs through digital channels, social media, print materials, and other communication platforms to increase visibility and participation.
    • Conduct outreach activities that engage the community, such as attending community meetings, fairs, or expos to inform the public about the organization’s educational opportunities.
  3. Event Coordination and Logistics:
    • Plan, organize, and coordinate events, workshops, or campaigns that support the educational goals of the organization.
    • Manage all aspects of event logistics, including venue selection, scheduling, coordinating speakers or facilitators, and securing necessary resources.
    • Work with external partners or vendors to secure materials or services for events.
    • Oversee event promotion and registration to ensure maximum attendance and engagement.
    • Ensure that events run smoothly and participants have positive experiences.
  4. Resource Creation and Distribution:
    • Develop educational materials such as pamphlets, handouts, toolkits, and digital content that effectively communicate key messages to the community.
    • Create and manage a library of educational resources that can be used by both internal staff and external partners.
    • Distribute educational resources to schools, community centers, and other organizations to support the outreach efforts.
  5. Collaboration and Partnership Building:
    • Establish and maintain relationships with local government agencies, educational institutions, community leaders, and other nonprofit organizations to expand the reach of the educational programs.
    • Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure educational goals align with organizational priorities and community needs.
    • Coordinate with marketing, communications, and other departments to ensure cohesive messaging and promotion of events and resources.
  6. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
    • Track and evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and outreach initiatives by collecting participant feedback and analyzing attendance data.
    • Use data to assess program outcomes and identify areas for improvement in future programs.
    • Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders and funders to demonstrate the impact of education and outreach efforts.
    • Conduct needs assessments to determine the most effective outreach strategies and educational programs for target audiences.
  7. Professional Development and Training:
    • Stay up-to-date with best practices in education, outreach, and community engagement, incorporating new strategies and methodologies into the programs.
    • Attend conferences, workshops, or training sessions to further develop skills in education, community outreach, and event management.
  8. Administrative Duties:
    • Manage budgets for educational programs and events, ensuring resources are used efficiently.
    • Maintain accurate records of participants, events, materials, and outreach efforts.
    • Assist with grant applications or funding proposals to secure support for education and outreach initiatives.
    • Provide support for the organization’s overall mission through other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Public Relations, Social Work, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in education, community outreach, event coordination, or public relations.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
    • Experience in developing educational materials and resources.
    • Familiarity with outreach strategies, including digital platforms, social media, and community-based marketing.
    • Ability to build and maintain partnerships with community stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and event management tools.
