Academic Officer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Academic Officer to join our academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to the academic department, coordinating academic programs and events, and ensuring compliance with academic policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support

1. Provide administrative support to the academic department, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and greeting visitors.
2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and databases, including student records, course schedules, and faculty information.
3. Coordinate travel arrangements, accommodations, and other logistical support for faculty and visiting scholars.

Program Coordination

1. Coordinate academic programs and events, including conferences, workshops, and seminars.
2. Assist with the development and implementation of new academic programs and initiatives.
3. Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure successful program delivery.

Academic Policy and Procedure

1. Ensure compliance with academic policies and procedures, including those related to student admissions, progression, and graduation.
2. Interpret and communicate academic policies and procedures to students, faculty, and staff.
3. Identify and recommend improvements to academic policies and procedures.

Communication and Liaison

1. Serve as a liaison between the academic department and other university departments, including the registrar’s office, student affairs, and facilities management.
2. Communicate academic information to students, faculty, and staff through various channels, including email, websites, and social media.
3. Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, including other universities, research institutions, and industry partners.

Requirements

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as education, business, or public administration.
2. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in an academic administrative role.

Skills

1. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
2. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge

1. Strong knowledge of academic policies and procedures.
2. Familiarity with university systems, including student information systems and learning management systems.
3. Understanding of the principles of academic administration and governance.

Desired Qualifications

Advanced Degree

1. Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as education, business, or public administration.
2. Experience in a leadership or management role.

Experience

1. Experience working in a university or college setting.
2. Experience with program coordination, academic policy development, and academic governance.
