Lab Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lab Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining laboratory equipment and systems. They will work closely with researchers, scientists, and engineers to support the development of new technologies and products.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Design and Development:

– Design, develop, and test laboratory equipment and systems, including mechanical, electrical, and software components.
– Collaborate with researchers, scientists, and engineers to identify equipment needs and develop solutions.
– Develop and maintain detailed design documentation, including drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.

Equipment Testing and Validation:

– Test and validate laboratory equipment and systems to ensure they meet specifications and requirements.
– Collaborate with quality assurance teams to develop and implement testing protocols.
– Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, and implement corrective actions.

Equipment Maintenance and Repair:

– Maintain and repair laboratory equipment and systems, including performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
– Collaborate with maintenance teams to develop and implement maintenance schedules.
– Ensure equipment is properly calibrated and functioning within specifications.

Safety and Compliance:

– Ensure laboratory equipment and systems meet safety and regulatory requirements.
– Collaborate with safety teams to develop and implement safety protocols.
– Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Collaboration and Communication:

– Collaborate with researchers, scientists, engineers, and other stakeholders to support the development of new technologies and products.
– Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including researchers, scientists, and engineers.
– Provide training and support to users of laboratory equipment and systems.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
– Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a laboratory or research environment, or a related field.
– Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment and systems, including mechanical, electrical, and software components.

Skills:

– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
– Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
– Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.

Knowledge:

– Strong knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
– Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including OSHA and ISO.
– Knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software and programming languages.

Desired Qualifications:

– Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
– Familiarity with quality management systems, including ISO 9001.
– Experience with lean manufacturing principles and methodologies.
