Lab Attendant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Lab Attendant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting laboratory operations, maintaining a safe and organized work environment, and assisting laboratory staff with various tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory Maintenance:
– Clean and maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and work surfaces
– Restock supplies and materials, including chemicals, glassware, and other laboratory essentials
– Ensure proper disposal of hazardous waste and chemicals
Equipment Preparation:
– Prepare equipment for laboratory experiments and procedures, including setting up instruments and calibrating equipment
– Assist with the maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment
Sample Preparation:
– Assist with the preparation of samples for laboratory analysis, including labeling, sorting, and storing samples
– Ensure proper handling and storage of samples to maintain integrity and prevent contamination
Assisting Laboratory Staff:
– Assist laboratory staff with various tasks, including experiments, procedures, and data collection
– Provide support with laboratory-related projects and initiatives
Safety and Compliance:
– Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following standard operating procedures (SOPs)
– Report any safety incidents or concerns to laboratory management
Requirements:
Qualifications:
– High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a scientific field preferred
– 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, or equivalent experience in a related field
– Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment, and safety protocols
Skills:
– Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills
– Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods
Knowledge:
– Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment, and safety protocols
– Familiarity with laboratory software and instrumentation
– Understanding of laboratory safety protocols and procedures
Desired Qualifications:
– Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
– Familiarity with quality control and quality assurance procedures
– Certification in laboratory safety or a related field
