Head Of Curriculum
Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development and Oversight:
- Lead the design and implementation of the curriculum across all grade levels, ensuring alignment with local, state, or national educational standards.
- Oversee the development of subject-specific curricula, ensuring they are up-to-date, engaging, and relevant to students’ needs and future aspirations.
- Continuously review and update the curriculum to reflect current educational trends, new teaching methodologies, and emerging technologies.

Curriculum Mapping and Integration:
- Work with teachers and subject coordinators to create curriculum maps that outline learning goals, assessments, and key competencies for each subject area.
- Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of the curriculum to ensure consistency and progression in student learning from grade to grade.
- Integrate cross-curricular opportunities, where appropriate, to promote interdisciplinary learning and skills development.

Professional Development for Staff:
- Organize and lead training sessions, workshops, and professional development programs for teachers to enhance their understanding of curriculum design, pedagogy, and best practices.
- Provide guidance and support to teachers in implementing the curriculum effectively and adapting it to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement among teaching staff through ongoing mentorship and feedback.

Assessment and Evaluation:
- Develop and oversee the assessment strategy for the curriculum, ensuring that it includes both formative and summative assessments to measure student progress and achievement.
- Analyze student data and assessment results to identify areas for curriculum improvement or changes in instructional strategies.
- Ensure assessments are fair, reliable, and aligned with the intended learning outcomes.

Resource Management:
- Identify and recommend teaching resources, materials, and educational technology to support curriculum delivery.
- Oversee the selection of textbooks, digital tools, and supplementary resources that enhance teaching and learning.
- Ensure resources are effectively used and accessible to both teachers and students.

Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor the implementation of the curriculum across the school to ensure consistency, quality, and effectiveness.
- Conduct regular reviews of the curriculum to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
- Develop action plans and strategies for addressing any curriculum gaps or challenges.

Stakeholder Engagement:
- Communicate regularly with parents, school leadership, and external organizations about curriculum goals, changes, and student progress.
- Represent the school in external curriculum-related meetings, conferences, and networks, ensuring the institution remains current with educational trends and practices.
- Collaborate with school leadership to ensure that the curriculum supports the school’s vision, mission, and values.

Inclusion and Differentiation:
- Ensure the curriculum meets the diverse needs of all students, including those with special educational needs, ELL (English Language Learners) students, and gifted learners.
- Promote differentiated teaching strategies and inclusive practices within the curriculum to accommodate varying student abilities and learning styles.
- Support the development of personalized learning plans for students who require additional support or enrichment.
Qualifications:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Curriculum Development, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree in Education or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: At least 5-7 years of experience in teaching and curriculum design, with some experience in leadership or curriculum coordination roles.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development theories, pedagogical practices, and assessment strategies.
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and support teachers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with teachers, students, and parents.
- Ability to analyze and use data to inform decisions and improve curriculum and student outcomes.
- Experience with educational technology and how it can be integrated into the curriculum.
Additional Skills (Preferred):
- Experience in an educational leadership position, such as Head of Department, Academic Coordinator, or Assistant Principal.
- Familiarity with local or international curriculum frameworks, such as the Common Core, IB, or national standards.
- A passion for promoting inclusive education and supporting diverse learning needs.
Work Environment:
- Typically works within a school or educational institution.
- May need to attend meetings and conferences outside of regular school hours.
- The role involves collaboration with teachers, school administrators, and external education bodies.
