Engineering Lab Assistant
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Lab Assistant to support our engineering faculty and students in laboratory settings. The successful candidate will assist with laboratory preparation, maintenance, and operations, as well as provide technical support for students and faculty.
Key Responsibilities
1. Laboratory Preparation: Prepare laboratories for classes, experiments, and research projects by setting up equipment, software, and materials.
2. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on laboratory equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
3. Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to students and faculty on laboratory equipment, software, and procedures.
4. Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
5. Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, equipment, and materials, and order replacements as needed.
6. Collaboration: Work closely with faculty, students, and other lab assistants to support research projects, experiments, and classes.
7. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities, equipment maintenance, and inventory.
Requirements
1. Education: Associate’s degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
2. Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in an academic or research environment.
3. Technical Skills: Proficiency in laboratory equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with programming languages, such as Python, C++, or MATLAB.
4. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
5. Safety Awareness: Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
Desired Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
2. Advanced Technical Skills: Experience with specialized laboratory equipment, such as 3D printers, CNC machines, or spectrometers.
3. Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python, C++, or MATLAB.
4. Research Experience: Experience with research projects, experiments, and data analysis.
