Secondary teacher

Responsibilities:

  1. Lesson Planning and Delivery:

    • Prepare and deliver engaging lessons in the assigned subject area (e.g., math, science, English, history, etc.).
    • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students’ varying needs and abilities.
    • Use a variety of instructional strategies to enhance student learning.
  2. Classroom Management:

    • Establish and maintain a positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
    • Manage student behavior in accordance with school policies.
    • Promote respect, responsibility, and discipline among students.
  3. Assessment and Evaluation:

    • Design and administer formative and summative assessments (tests, quizzes, projects, etc.).
    • Provide timely feedback on student performance and areas for improvement.
    • Monitor and track student progress, adjusting instruction as needed.
  4. Student Support:

    • Provide individual or small group instruction as needed for students who require additional help.
    • Offer academic support and mentoring to students, including career and personal development.
    • Address diverse learning needs and styles through differentiated instruction.
  5. Collaboration:

    • Work collaboratively with colleagues, including department heads, counselors, and administrators, to improve school programs and student outcomes.
    • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
    • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and behavior.
  6. Administrative Duties:

    • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
    • Participate in school committees and extracurricular activities, as required.
    • Stay up-to-date with curriculum changes, school policies, and educational best practices.
  7. Professional Development:

    • Engage in continuous learning and professional development to improve teaching effectiveness.
    • Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to enhance subject knowledge and teaching skills.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in education or in a specific subject area (such as Mathematics, English, Science, etc.).
  • Certification or licensure as required by the state or region.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and digital tools to enhance learning.
