Job Overview: The English Teacher is responsible for instructing students in the English language, literature, writing, and grammar. The teacher will develop lesson plans, create engaging instructional materials, and foster a positive and stimulating classroom environment. This role requires a passion for language and literature, and a commitment to helping students develop their reading, writing, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:

Instruction:
- Teach English language arts, including reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and literature.
- Plan, organize, and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the needs and learning styles of students.
- Introduce students to classic and modern literature, encouraging critical thinking and in-depth analysis.
- Develop writing assignments to enhance students’ skills in composition, essay writing, and creative expression.
- Incorporate multimedia and technology to enhance lessons and student learning.

Assessment & Evaluation:
- Develop and administer regular assessments, such as quizzes, tests, essays, and projects, to gauge student progress.
- Provide constructive feedback on student work to help them improve their writing, analysis, and comprehension skills.
- Keep accurate records of student performance and progress, ensuring that evaluations are fair and consistent.

Classroom Management:
- Establish and maintain a well-organized, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Address behavioral issues in a timely and constructive manner, ensuring that students understand expectations.
- Create a positive atmosphere that encourages student participation, curiosity, and collaboration.

Support & Guidance:
- Provide additional help or tutoring to students who need extra assistance or clarification on assignments and concepts.
- Encourage students to develop a love for reading and a deeper appreciation for literature.
- Guide students in developing strong communication and writing skills that will serve them in academic and professional settings.

Collaboration:
- Work closely with other English teachers and staff to plan and refine the curriculum and teaching strategies.
- Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and other professional development opportunities.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements.

Professional Development:
- Stay up-to-date with current teaching methods, educational tools, and trends in English education.
- Attend workshops and conferences to further professional knowledge and improve instructional practices.
- Continuously assess and refine teaching techniques to meet the evolving needs of students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (required).
- Teaching certification in English (required).
- Strong knowledge of English language, literature, grammar, and writing principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Ability to create an inclusive, positive, and respectful learning environment.
- Prior teaching experience (preferred but not required).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to work in a classroom environment and interact with students for extended periods of time.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, typically Monday to Friday, during school hours.
- Some evening or weekend work may be required for parent-teacher conferences, school events, or professional development.
