Lecturer Education
Job Summary:
The Lecturer in Education is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences to students, conducting research in the field of education, and contributing to the academic community within the department. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, dedicated to fostering a positive learning environment, and committed to advancing the field through research and scholarship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching and Instruction: Develop and deliver engaging and effective lectures, seminars, and workshops on topics related to education. This may include courses in educational theory, policy, pedagogy, classroom management, and specialized subjects such as special education or educational technology.
- Curriculum Development: Contribute to the design, development, and updating of course materials, syllabi, and assessments. Ensure that course content aligns with academic standards and the needs of students.
- Student Support: Provide academic support to students by holding office hours, offering guidance on coursework, and helping with research projects. Foster a supportive learning environment and assist students in achieving their academic goals.
- Research and Scholarship: Conduct original research in the field of education, publish findings in academic journals, and contribute to the advancement of educational practices. Participate in conferences and collaborate with other scholars in the field.
- Assessment and Feedback: Evaluate student performance through exams, assignments, and projects. Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their academic skills and knowledge.
- Advising and Mentoring: Advise students on their academic and career paths, providing guidance on course selection, research projects, and post-graduation opportunities.
- Academic Administration: Participate in departmental meetings, faculty committees, and other administrative duties as required. Support the overall functioning of the department by contributing to strategic initiatives and accreditation processes.
- Professional Development: Stay current with developments in the field of education, including new teaching methods, technologies, and research. Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions to continue professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Education: A Master’s degree or higher in Education or a related field. A PhD or EdD in Education is preferred.
- Experience: Experience teaching in higher education or a related educational setting is preferred. Proven record of research and academic publication is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of educational theory, pedagogy, and current trends in education.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to engage and inspire students through innovative teaching methods.
- Research and analytical skills, with a track record of publishing in academic journals.
- Proficient in using educational technology and learning management systems.
- Personal Qualities:
