Lecturer in Pharmacy
Job Summary:
A Lecturer in Pharmacy is a faculty member responsible for teaching, mentoring, and evaluating pharmacy students in a university or college setting. They develop and implement curriculum, assess student learning, and provide guidance and support to students.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Curriculum Development
1. Teach pharmacy courses, including pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology, and pharmacy practice.
2. Develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum to ensure alignment with accreditation standards and industry needs.
3. Create engaging and interactive learning experiences for students.
Student Mentorship and Evaluation
1. Mentor and advise pharmacy students, providing guidance on academic and professional development.
2. Evaluate student learning, including assessing knowledge, skills, and attitudes.
3. Provide constructive feedback to students to promote growth and improvement.
Service and Scholarship
1. Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities.
2. Engage in scholarly activities, such as research, publication, and presentation.
3. Stay current with industry developments and advancements in pharmacy practice.
Clinical and Practice Responsibilities
1. Provide clinical instruction and supervision to pharmacy students in clinical settings.
2. Participate in pharmacy practice activities, such as patient counseling and medication therapy management.
3. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to promote interprofessional education and practice.
Requirements:
1. PharmD Degree: A Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited program.
2. Licensure: Current licensure as a pharmacist in the state where employed.
3. Teaching Experience: Experience teaching pharmacy students, either as a faculty member or as a preceptor.
4. Clinical Experience: Recent clinical experience in a relevant pharmacy practice setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Residency or Fellowship Training: Completion of a pharmacy residency or fellowship program.
2. Board Certification: Board certification in a relevant pharmacy specialty (e.g., BCPS, BCNP).
3. Research and Publication Experience: Experience with research, publication, and presentation in pharmacy education or practice.
4. Interprofessional Education Experience: Experience with interprofessional education and practice.
