Research Professor in Urdu
Job Summary:
A Research Professor in Urdu is a senior academic position that involves conducting original research, publishing scholarly articles, and teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Urdu language and literature. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to the development of Urdu studies and promote interdisciplinary research.
Key Responsibilities:
Research
1. Conduct original research in Urdu language, literature, and culture.
2. Publish scholarly articles and books in Urdu and English.
3. Present research at national and international conferences.
Teaching
1. Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Urdu language and literature.
2. Develop and teach specialized courses in Urdu studies.
3. Supervise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
Service
1. Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and advising.
2. Engage in outreach and community service, including public speaking and cultural events.
3. Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental and university strategic plans.
Requirements:
1. Ph.D. in Urdu: A Ph.D. in Urdu language and literature or a related field.
2. Research Experience: A strong research background, including publications and presentations.
3. Teaching Experience: Experience teaching Urdu language and literature at the graduate and undergraduate level.
4. Language Skills: Fluency in Urdu and English.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Specialization in a Particular Area: Specialization in a particular area of Urdu studies, such as Urdu literature, linguistics, or cultural studies.
2. Experience with Interdisciplinary Research: Experience with interdisciplinary research and collaboration with colleagues from other departments.
3. Experience with Grant Writing: Experience with grant writing and research funding.
4. Familiarity with Digital Humanities: Familiarity with digital humanities and experience with digital tools and methods.
