Deputy Manager
Job Summary:
The Deputy Manager of Information Services is responsible for supporting the management of information services, including library operations, information technology, and research support. This role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations, managing staff, and contributing to the development of information services strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of information services, including library operations, IT support, and research assistance.
2. Ensure the smooth delivery of services, including troubleshooting and resolving issues.
3. Manage the maintenance and development of physical and digital collections.
Staff Management
1. Supervise and manage a team of information services staff, including librarians, IT support staff, and research assistants.
2. Provide guidance, training, and development opportunities to staff.
3. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
Strategic Planning
1. Contribute to the development of information services strategies and plans.
2. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify needs and priorities.
3. Analyze trends and emerging technologies to inform service development.
Communication and Collaboration
1. Communicate with stakeholders, including students, faculty, and staff, to promote information services and gather feedback.
2. Collaborate with other departments and units to support teaching, learning, and research.
3. Represent the information services department in university-wide initiatives and committees.
Requirements:
1. Master’s Degree in Library Science or Related Field: A master’s degree in library science, information science, or a related field.
2. Experience in Information Services: Significant experience in information services, including library operations, IT support, and research assistance.
3. Management Experience: Proven management experience, including staff supervision and operational management.
4. Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Second Master’s Degree or Ph.D.: A second master’s degree or Ph.D. in a related field.
2. Specialized Certification: Specialized certification in library and information science, such as the Certified Public Library Administrator (CPLA) or the Library Support Staff Certification (LSSC).
3. Experience with Emerging Technologies: Experience with emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, or data analytics.
4. Bilingual or Multilingual: Ability to communicate in multiple languages.
