Islamic Studies Teacher
job Summary:
The Islamic Studies Teacher is responsible for teaching Islamic studies to students, imparting knowledge about the Quran, Hadith, Islamic history, ethics, and the core principles of Islam. The teacher’s role is to create an engaging and respectful learning environment that fosters spiritual, moral, and academic development. The Islamic Studies Teacher works to promote Islamic values, encourage students’ religious development, and ensure that lessons are aligned with both educational standards and Islamic teachings.
Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Delivery:

Plan and deliver engaging lessons in Islamic Studies, covering topics such as Quranic studies, the Hadith, Islamic history, Islamic ethics, and jurisprudence (Fiqh).

Create lesson plans and instructional materials that are consistent with the school’s curriculum and reflect Islamic principles and teachings.

Tailor teaching methods to meet the varying needs of students, including differentiated instruction for students with different learning styles and abilities.

Student Engagement:

Foster a positive and respectful classroom environment that encourages active participation and student interest in Islamic studies.

Use a variety of teaching methods, such as discussions, group work, projects, and multimedia resources, to engage students and encourage critical thinking.

Develop interactive activities that promote understanding of Islamic culture, practices, and values.

Assessment and Feedback:

Regularly assess students’ understanding of Islamic studies through quizzes, tests, assignments, and class participation.

Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve their knowledge and understanding of Islamic teachings.

Track students’ progress and report on their academic development to parents and school leadership.

Classroom Management:

Create and maintain a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning, promoting respect, discipline, and adherence to Islamic etiquette.

Address student behavioral issues effectively and in line with the school’s policies and Islamic principles.

Ensure students’ personal and academic growth by offering guidance on moral and ethical development.

Cultural and Spiritual Support:

Encourage the development of Islamic character, such as respect for others, honesty, kindness, and responsibility.

Support students in understanding the importance of prayer, charity, fasting, and other Islamic practices.

Provide mentorship and guidance to students, offering support in spiritual, moral, and personal development.

Professional Development:

Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in teaching and the latest educational trends in Islamic studies.

Collaborate with other teachers and staff to enhance the delivery of Islamic studies and integrate it with other subjects, when appropriate.

Parent and Community Engagement:

Communicate regularly with parents regarding students’ academic progress, behavior, and involvement in Islamic activities.

Organize and participate in school events, including Islamic holidays, cultural celebrations, and parent-teacher conferences.

Islamic Activities and Extracurricular Involvement:

Organize extracurricular activities related to Islamic studies, such as Quranic recitation competitions, Islamic cultural events, and community service projects.

Lead or support student participation in religious events such as Ramadan activities, Eid celebrations, or Islamic awareness days.

Qualifications:
-
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies, Religious Studies, Education, or a related field. A Master’s degree or higher in Islamic studies is a plus.

Experience: Proven experience as an Islamic Studies Teacher, or in a related role, with experience in teaching Quran, Hadith, Islamic history, and values.

Certification: Teaching certification (if applicable) or relevant Islamic studies certification.

Skills:

In-depth knowledge of Islamic teachings, including Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, Islamic history, and ethics.

Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to engage students and maintain discipline.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and build relationships with parents.

Ability to present complex Islamic concepts in a clear and accessible manner.

Proficiency in using teaching resources, educational technology, and multimedia tools.
