Professor of Biochemistry
Job Summary:
The Professor of Biochemistry will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, conduct research, and engage in service activities. The successful candidate will have a strong research agenda, a commitment to teaching excellence, and a desire to contribute to the growth and development of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biochemistry, including lectures, labs, and seminars.
2. Research: Conduct research in biochemistry, including designing and conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and publishing research findings.
3. Service: Engage in service activities, including advising students, serving on departmental and university committees, and participating in professional organizations.
4. Curriculum Development: Develop and revise curriculum to ensure that courses and programs are relevant, innovative, and meet the needs of students and the field.
5. Mentoring: Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research and academic pursuits.
Requirements:
1. Education: Ph.D. in Biochemistry or a related field.
2. Teaching Experience: Significant teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
3. Research Experience: Strong research agenda and publication record in top-tier journals.
4. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: Commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment and promoting diversity and equity.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Postdoctoral Experience: Postdoctoral research experience in biochemistry or a related field.
2. Funding: Experience in securing research funding from external sources.
3. Interdisciplinary Research: Experience in interdisciplinary research and collaboration.
4. Leadership: Experience in leadership roles, such as department chair or director of a research center.
