Assistant Professor
Job Summary:
The Assistant Professor is a tenure-track faculty position that involves teaching, research, and service responsibilities. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, conduct research in their area of expertise, and contribute to departmental and university service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching: Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the department, including lectures, labs, and seminars.
2. Research: Conduct research in area of expertise, including designing and conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and publishing research findings.
3. Service: Engage in departmental and university service, including advising students, serving on committees, and participating in professional organizations.
4. Curriculum Development: Develop and revise curriculum to ensure that courses and programs are relevant, innovative, and meet the needs of students and the field.
5. Mentoring: Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research and academic pursuits.
Requirements:
1. Education: Ph.D. in relevant field (or ABD with completion of Ph.D. within one year of hire).
2. Teaching Experience: Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
3. Research Experience: Experience conducting research, including publishing research findings in top-tier journals.
4. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: Commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment and promoting diversity and equity.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Postdoctoral Experience: Postdoctoral research experience.
2. Funding: Experience securing research funding from external sources.
3. Interdisciplinary Research: Experience conducting interdisciplinary research.
4. Leadership Experience: Experience leading research teams or projects.
