Assistant Professor of Urdu
Job Summary:
The Assistant Professor of Urdu will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Urdu language and literature, conduct research in their area of specialization, and contribute to departmental and university service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Urdu language and literature, including language acquisition, literature, and cultural studies.
2. Research: Conduct research in Urdu language and literature, including publishing scholarly articles and books.
3. Service: Engage in departmental and university service, including advising students, serving on committees, and participating in professional organizations.
4. Curriculum Development: Develop and revise curriculum to ensure that courses and programs are relevant, innovative, and meet the needs of students and the field.
5. Student Mentoring: Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research and academic pursuits.
Requirements:
1. Education: Ph.D. in Urdu language and literature or a related field.
2. Teaching Experience: Experience teaching Urdu language and literature at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
3. Research Experience: Experience conducting research in Urdu language and literature, including publishing scholarly articles and books.
4. Language Skills: Fluency in Urdu and English.
5. Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: Commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment and promoting diversity and equity.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Postdoctoral Experience: Postdoctoral research experience in Urdu language and literature.
2. Experience with Language Instruction: Experience with language instruction and curriculum development.
3. Knowledge of South Asian Cultures: Knowledge of South Asian cultures and literatures.
4. Leadership Experience: Experience leading research teams or projects.
