We are seeking an experienced and visionary Academic Head to lead the academic direction of the school. The Academic Head plays a crucial role in ensuring excellence in teaching and learning by overseeing curriculum implementation, assessment standards, teacher development, and academic policy. This role requires strong leadership, instructional expertise, and a deep commitment to student success and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership

Provide strategic leadership for curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation across grade levels.

Align academic programs with the school’s mission, vision, and educational philosophy (e.g., IB, national, or international curriculum).

Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and academic achievement.

Monitor and analyze student performance data to inform instructional improvements.
Staff Development and Support

Mentor and support teachers through coaching, observation, and feedback.

Organize and lead professional development workshops, training sessions, and collaborative planning.

Foster a culture of reflective practice and lifelong learning among faculty.
Curriculum and Assessment

Oversee academic planning, including timetabling, subject offerings, and curriculum mapping.

Ensure assessment policies and practices are consistently applied and aligned with curriculum standards.

Lead curriculum reviews and updates in line with educational best practices and accreditation requirements.
Leadership and Administration

Participate as a member of the senior leadership team in decision-making and school planning.

Coordinate with other department heads and coordinators to ensure cross-curricular coherence.

Support accreditation and inspection processes as needed (e.g., IB, CIS, NEASC, national boards).

Promote innovation and effective use of educational technology.
Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field (preferred)

Bachelor’s Degree in Education or subject specialization

Valid teaching certification

Minimum 5–7 years of teaching experience, with 2+ years in a leadership or coordination role

Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional practices, and educational frameworks (e.g., IB, Cambridge, national systems)

Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Preferred:

Experience in an international or bilingual school setting

IB Programme Leadership experience (PYP/MYP/DP Coordinator or above)

Familiarity with accreditation processes (e.g., CIS, IB, local/national boards)

Proficiency with academic management software and data analysis tools
