Manager of Organizational Development

Job Description:

A Manager of Organizational Development (OD) is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing strategies that enhance an organization’s structure, culture, processes, and overall effectiveness. This role focuses on improving organizational performance through people management strategies, employee development programs, and change management initiatives. The OD Manager works closely with senior management to align organizational goals with human resources and business strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organizational Strategy & Development:

    • Develop and implement strategies for improving organizational structure, culture, and workflows.

    • Work with senior leadership to define and align business goals with organizational capabilities.

    • Analyze business needs and design programs that drive growth, performance, and engagement.

  • Leadership Development:

    • Design and implement leadership development programs to build the leadership pipeline.

    • Provide coaching and mentoring to leaders at all levels to enhance their leadership skills.

    • Assess the effectiveness of leadership development initiatives and adjust as needed.

  • Change Management:

    • Lead change management initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions during organizational changes (e.g., restructuring, mergers, system implementations).

    • Prepare and execute communication strategies to ensure successful adoption of new processes or structures.

    • Provide support to employees and teams to adapt to organizational changes.

  • Employee Engagement & Retention:

    • Design programs aimed at improving employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.

    • Conduct employee surveys, focus groups, and feedback sessions to identify areas for improvement.

    • Collaborate with HR to design retention strategies and career development plans.

  • Training & Development:

    • Oversee the development and implementation of training programs that align with organizational goals.

    • Ensure employees are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge for career growth and organizational success.

    • Track and measure the impact of training programs on employee performance and productivity.

  • Performance Management & Succession Planning:

    • Collaborate with HR and management to implement performance management systems that drive results.

    • Assist in identifying high-potential employees and developing succession plans.

    • Analyze performance trends and make recommendations for improvement.

  • Organizational Assessments:

    • Conduct regular assessments of organizational health and performance using tools such as surveys, interviews, and data analysis.

    • Recommend strategies to optimize organizational effectiveness and address areas of concern.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in organizational development, human resources, or management consulting.

  • Proven experience in change management, leadership development, and employee engagement initiatives.

  • Familiarity with OD models, assessments, and performance management frameworks.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and use it to drive organizational improvements.

  • In-depth knowledge of organizational development methodologies, change management, and leadership strategies.
