Academic Leader
Job Summary:
An Academic Leader is a senior academic administrator responsible for providing strategic leadership and vision to an academic department, school, or college. They oversee academic programs, faculty, and staff to ensure academic excellence, innovation, and student success.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
1. Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve academic goals and objectives.
2. Provide vision and leadership to faculty, staff, and students.
3. Foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and student-centeredness.
Academic Program Management
1. Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs.
2. Ensure academic programs meet accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies.
3. Manage program budgets, resources, and personnel.
Faculty and Staff Management
1. Supervise and evaluate faculty and staff performance.
2. Provide professional development opportunities to enhance faculty and staff skills.
3. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
Student Success
1. Develop and implement initiatives to enhance student recruitment, retention, and graduation.
2. Collaborate with student affairs professionals to provide student support services.
3. Ensure student concerns and issues are addressed promptly and effectively.
Community Engagement
1. Develop and maintain partnerships with external stakeholders, including industry, government, and community organizations.
2. Foster a culture of community engagement and outreach.
3. Ensure academic programs meet the needs of the community and region.
Requirements:
1. Earned Doctorate: A Ph.D. or terminal degree in a relevant field.
2. Academic Administration Experience: Significant experience in academic administration, including leadership, management, and supervision.
3. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
4. Strategic Thinking and Planning: Ability to think strategically and plan for academic excellence and innovation.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Academic Experience: Experience as a faculty member or academic professional.
2. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Experience promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in academic settings.
3. Fundraising and Development: Experience with fundraising and development to support academic programs.
