Job Description:

An Assistant Professor is an entry-level faculty member at a college or university responsible for teaching, conducting research, and providing service to the institution. This role is often the first step on the tenure track in academic institutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teaching:

  • Develop and deliver undergraduate and/or graduate courses in their field of expertise.

  • Prepare syllabi, assignments, lectures, and exams.

  • Assess and grade student performance.

  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.

• Research and Scholarship:

  • Conduct original research in their area of specialization.

  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at academic conferences.

  • Seek external funding or grants to support research projects.

• Service:

  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and curriculum development.

  • Engage in community outreach and professional service related to their field.

  • Contribute to the academic and cultural life of the university.

Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. or terminal degree in the relevant academic discipline.

• Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research.

• Strong communication and organizational skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Postdoctoral research experience (for STEM fields).

• Previous teaching experience at the college or university level.

• Record of published scholarly work or creative activity.
