Assistant Professor of Economics
Job Summary:
The Assistant Professor of Economics will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in economics, conduct research in their area of specialization, and contribute to the academic and administrative life of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in economics, including microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and specialized courses in their area of expertise.
2. Research: Conduct original research in economics, publish scholarly articles in reputable journals, and present research at conferences and seminars.
3. Service: Participate in departmental, college, and university service, including committee work, academic advising, and community outreach.
4. Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and revision of economics curricula.
5. Student Supervision: Supervise undergraduate and graduate students, including thesis and dissertation supervision.
6. Professional Development: Stay current with developments in economics and pursue ongoing professional development.
Qualifications:
1. Education: Ph.D. in Economics or a related field.
2. Research Experience: Research experience in economics, demonstrated by publications in reputable journals.
3. Teaching Experience: Teaching experience in economics, preferably at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
4. Knowledge: Strong knowledge of economic theory, econometrics, and research methods.
5. Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Postdoctoral Experience: Postdoctoral research experience in economics.
2. Experience with Econometrics Software: Experience with econometrics software, such as Stata, R, or Python.
3. Experience with Teaching Technology: Experience with teaching technology, such as online learning platforms and multimedia resources.
4. Professional Memberships: Membership in professional organizations, such as the American Economic Association.
