Compliance Officer 

Job Description:

An Experienced Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that an organization adheres to legal standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements. This role involves identifying compliance risks, implementing controls, and advising management on regulatory changes. The officer also plays a key role in audits, investigations, and training programs to promote a strong culture of compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance:

    • Monitor and interpret relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

    • Ensure the organization’s policies and procedures comply with applicable regulations (e.g., AML, GDPR, SOX, HIPAA, depending on the sector).

    • Serve as the point of contact with regulatory bodies and external auditors.

  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation:

    • Conduct risk assessments to identify areas of compliance vulnerability.

    • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and action plans.

  • Internal Controls & Monitoring:

    • Design and oversee internal controls to detect and prevent violations.

    • Perform regular compliance audits and reviews.

    • Investigate and resolve compliance issues or breaches.

  • Training & Awareness:

    • Develop and deliver training programs for employees on compliance-related topics.

    • Promote a culture of ethical behavior and accountability across the organization.

  • Reporting:

    • Maintain compliance records and prepare reports for senior management and regulators.

    • Escalate issues as needed to ensure timely resolution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or risk management.

  • Professional certifications such as CAMS, CRCM, CCEP, or equivalent are an advantage.

  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
