Computer Operator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Computer Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining computer systems, ensuring that they are running smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

Computer Operations:

– Operate and maintain computer systems, including mainframes, servers, and desktops
– Monitor system performance, identifying and resolving any issues that may arise
– Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as backups, updates, and patches

Data Entry and Management:

– Enter data into computer systems, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
– Manage and maintain databases, ensuring data integrity and security
– Perform data backups and recoveries as needed

Troubleshooting and Support:

– Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, identifying and resolving problems in a timely and efficient manner
– Provide technical support to users, answering questions and resolving issues
– Collaborate with other IT staff to resolve complex technical issues

Security and Compliance:

– Ensure that computer systems and data are secure and compliant with relevant laws and regulations
– Monitor system security, identifying and responding to potential threats
– Implement security patches and updates as needed

Documentation and Reporting:

– Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of computer systems and procedures
– Generate reports on system performance and other relevant metrics
– Provide technical guidance and support to other staff members

Requirements:

Qualifications:

– High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field preferred
– 1-2 years of experience in a computer operations or related role
– Strong knowledge of computer systems, hardware, and software

Skills:

– Excellent technical skills, including proficiency in operating systems, software applications, and hardware
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Knowledge:

– Strong knowledge of computer systems, hardware, and software
– Understanding of data management and security principles
– Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations, such as HIPAA and PCI-DSS

Desired Qualifications:

– Experience with cloud-based computing platforms and services
– Familiarity with IT service management frameworks, such as ITIL
– Certification in computer operations or a related field, such as CompTIA A+
