Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to serve as Dean of [Faculty/School]. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, academic vision, and administrative oversight to the faculty, promoting excellence in teaching, research, and service. The Dean will be responsible for leading the faculty in achieving its strategic objectives, fostering a culture of academic excellence, and promoting the faculty’s reputation locally, nationally, and internationally.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans, aligning with the institution’s mission and goals. Provide leadership and vision to the faculty, promoting excellence in teaching, research, and service.
2. Academic Leadership: Provide academic vision, leadership, and guidance to faculty members, promoting excellence in teaching, research, and service. Foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
3. Faculty Management: Recruit, retain, and develop faculty members, ensuring a diverse and inclusive academic community. Provide leadership and guidance to department chairs and program directors.
4. Budget Management: Manage the faculty budget, allocating resources effectively to support academic programs and initiatives. Ensure financial sustainability and responsible stewardship of resources.
5. Fundraising and Development: Identify and pursue funding opportunities, building relationships with donors, alumni, and industry partners. Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support faculty initiatives and priorities.
6. Community Engagement: Foster partnerships with external stakeholders, promoting the faculty’s research, teaching, and service activities. Develop and maintain relationships with local, national, and international partners.
7. Policy Development: Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring compliance with institutional and accreditation requirements. Ensure that faculty policies and procedures align with institutional policies and procedures.
8. Conflict Resolution: Resolve conflicts and address faculty and student concerns, promoting a positive and inclusive academic environment. Ensure that conflicts are resolved in a fair, transparent, and timely manner.
9. Accreditation and Quality Assurance: Ensure that faculty programs and activities meet accreditation and quality assurance standards. Develop and implement strategies to maintain and enhance accreditation and quality assurance.
10. Internationalization: Develop and implement strategies to internationalize the faculty, promoting global engagement, collaboration, and exchange. Foster partnerships with international institutions and organizations.
Requirements:
1. Terminal Degree: Earned doctorate or terminal degree in a relevant field.
2. Academic Leadership Experience: Proven experience in academic leadership, including department chair, associate dean, or dean roles.
3. Teaching and Research Experience: Significant teaching and research experience, with a strong record of publication and funding.
4. Strategic Planning and Budgeting: Experience with strategic planning, budgeting, and financial management.
5. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
6. Leadership and Management Skills: Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire faculty and staff.
7. Collaboration and Partnerships: Experience in developing and maintaining partnerships with external stakeholders, including industry, government, and community organizations.
