Education Counsellor

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Education Counsellor to provide guidance and support to students in their academic and career planning. The Education Counsellor will work closely with students to help them make informed decisions regarding their educational goals, including course selection, university applications, career paths, and study opportunities. This role requires a deep understanding of the education system, excellent communication skills, and a genuine desire to assist students in achieving their academic and professional aspirations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Student Guidance and Support:

    • Provide one-on-one counselling to students, helping them understand their strengths, weaknesses, and interests.
    • Advise students on course selection, academic programs, and university choices based on their educational goals, personal interests, and career aspirations.
    • Assist students with personal development, stress management, and decision-making processes to enhance their academic and emotional well-being.
    • Guide students through the process of choosing the right career paths and further education options, including both local and international opportunities.
  2. University and Program Information:

    • Stay up-to-date with university admissions requirements, scholarship opportunities, and program details.
    • Provide accurate and current information on university programs, application procedures, visa requirements, and scholarship opportunities.
    • Conduct workshops, presentations, and informational sessions on university applications, career planning, and study abroad programs.
  3. Application Assistance:

    • Assist students in preparing their application materials, including personal statements, letters of recommendation, and resumes.
    • Help students navigate the admissions process for various academic institutions and ensure that they meet deadlines and requirements.
    • Support students in preparing for standardized tests (e.g., SAT, GRE, IELTS, TOEFL), offering resources and strategies for test preparation.
  4. Career Development:

    • Provide career counselling and advise students on internships, job opportunities, and career fairs.
    • Help students identify and develop the skills needed to succeed in their chosen career fields.
    • Work with students to create and refine their professional profiles, including resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles.
  5. Ongoing Support:

    • Maintain regular follow-up with students to track their progress and provide continued guidance as they pursue their academic goals.
    • Offer advice and support to students throughout their academic journey, helping them adapt to challenges and changes in their educational path.
    • Provide counselling services to students experiencing academic stress, personal challenges, or emotional issues, referring them to appropriate services when necessary.
  6. Administrative Duties:

    • Maintain accurate records of student interactions, academic progress, and career guidance.
    • Prepare reports and maintain documentation related to counselling activities and student outcomes.
    • Collaborate with school, university, or organizational staff to improve counselling services and ensure they meet the needs of students.

Key Requirements:

  1. Education and Qualifications:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
    • Certification in career counselling or a related field is a plus.
  2. Experience:

    • Proven experience as an Education Counsellor or in a similar role within an educational institution, career services center, or related field.
    • Familiarity with university admissions processes, scholarship programs, and educational pathways.
    • Experience in providing academic and career guidance to students of various backgrounds and educational levels.
  3. Skills and Abilities:

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and educators.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Deep knowledge of educational systems, university programs, career options, and admissions procedures.
    • Ability to build rapport with students and create a comfortable, supportive environment for counselling.
    • Proficiency in using digital tools, databases, and software for managing student information.
