Educational Consultant
Job Summary:
The education Counselor provides comprehensive counseling and support services to students, helping them navigate academic, personal, social, and emotional challenges. This role involves providing individualized guidance, fostering students’ personal growth, and promoting their overall well-being. The Senior Student Counselor also leads counseling initiatives, collaborates with faculty and administration, and may supervise junior counselors or interns.
Key Responsibilities:

Individual Counseling:

Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to students on personal, academic, career, and emotional issues.

Assist students in developing coping strategies for stress, anxiety, time management, conflict resolution, and other challenges.

Support students through significant life transitions, such as graduation, family issues, or adjustment to new academic environments.

Group Counseling and Workshops:

Organize and lead group counseling sessions or support groups to address common student concerns, such as stress management, academic skills, or mental health.

Develop and deliver workshops on topics like study skills, career planning, self-esteem, and mental health awareness.

Crisis Intervention:

Respond to crisis situations and provide immediate emotional support and intervention for students in distress.

Collaborate with mental health professionals and faculty when dealing with high-risk situations, including suicidal ideation or self-harm concerns.

Academic Counseling and Guidance:

Assist students with academic planning, course selection, and career development.

Provide guidance on academic challenges, such as study techniques, time management, and goal setting.

Support students in identifying their strengths and career aspirations, helping them align their academic pursuits with their future goals.

Student Advocacy and Support:

Serve as an advocate for students’ needs and work to ensure their voices are heard within the academic institution.

Offer support for students dealing with disabilities, personal crises, or other significant life changes.

Supervision and Mentoring:

Supervise and mentor junior counselors or interns, providing guidance and feedback to enhance their skills and performance.

Review cases and offer professional development support to junior staff.

Collaboration and Referral Services:

Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to identify and support students who may benefit from counseling services.

Make referrals to external mental health professionals, academic advisors, or other specialized services as needed.

Program Development and Outreach:

Develop and implement programs, initiatives, and outreach efforts aimed at promoting mental health awareness and student well-being.

Organize awareness campaigns or events focused on wellness, mental health, and academic success.

Record Keeping and Documentation:

Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and student progress.

Prepare reports on counseling trends, student needs, and the effectiveness of counseling programs for senior leadership.

Professional Development:

Stay current on the latest research and best practices in student counseling, mental health, and education.

Attend training sessions, conferences, and workshops to enhance professional knowledge and skills.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirements: Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.

Certifications: Licensed Counselor (LPC, LCSW, or equivalent) or other relevant certifications.

Experience: A minimum of [X] years of experience as a counselor, with at least [Y] years in a senior or leadership role in a student services environment.
