Job Overview:
An English Teacher is responsible for teaching English language and literature to students at various educational levels, typically from middle school through high school, and sometimes at the college level. They create engaging lesson plans, facilitate classroom activities, assess student progress, and foster a supportive learning environment that helps students develop their language skills, comprehension, and appreciation for literature.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction and Lesson Planning:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in English language and literature, ensuring alignment with curriculum standards.
- Teach grammar, reading comprehension, writing, and speaking skills, focusing on both creative and formal aspects of the English language.
- Develop engaging and interactive activities to help students develop their speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills.
- Adjust teaching methods to cater to diverse learning needs and student abilities.
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assess students’ progress through tests, quizzes, assignments, and projects.
- Provide constructive feedback on students’ written work, essays, and presentations.
- Grade assignments and exams in a timely and consistent manner.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, and keep parents or guardians informed of their child’s progress.
- Classroom Management:
- Create and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Establish clear rules and expectations for behavior and work in the classroom.
- Address student behavioral issues and provide guidance and support when necessary.
- Foster critical thinking, creativity, and a love of learning among students.
- Student Support:
- Provide individual assistance to students who may need additional help with reading, writing, or comprehension.
- Offer extra support for students with special needs or English language learners.
- Hold regular office hours or provide extra tutoring to help students succeed.
- Encourage and mentor students in their academic growth and personal development.
- Curriculum Development:
- Collaborate with colleagues to create and review curriculum, ensuring that it aligns with educational standards and student needs.

Skills and Qualifications:
