Head Of Curriculum
The Head of Curriculum is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the school’s academic curriculum. This leadership role focuses on ensuring that the curriculum aligns with national and international standards, promotes student engagement, and meets the diverse needs of all learners. The Head of Curriculum works closely with teachers, school leadership, and other stakeholders to establish a cohesive and effective curriculum that enhances student achievement, supports professional development, and ensures academic rigor across all subject areas.
The Head of Curriculum plays a key role in shaping the educational philosophy of the school, supporting the integration of innovative teaching practices, and leading efforts to maintain high academic standards. This position requires a deep understanding of pedagogy, curriculum design, and assessment practices, along with the ability to lead and inspire educators to foster a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development and Design:
- Lead the design, review, and refinement of the school’s curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of all learners and aligns with current educational standards and best practices.
- Ensure the curriculum is dynamic, forward-thinking, and adaptable to the evolving educational landscape, including the integration of technology, 21st-century skills, and interdisciplinary learning.
- Oversee the creation and evaluation of unit plans, lesson plans, and teaching materials to ensure they align with the established curriculum goals.
- Quality Assurance and Standards Alignment:
- Ensure the curriculum adheres to national and local education standards, regulations, and accreditation requirements.
- Regularly assess and update the curriculum to ensure its relevance, rigor, and inclusivity.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum in terms of student outcomes and adjust as necessary to enhance learning experiences.
- Teacher Leadership and Professional Development:
- Support and guide teachers in the effective delivery of the curriculum, ensuring instructional practices align with the curriculum’s objectives.
- Coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities for teachers to enhance their knowledge of curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment methods.
- Foster a collaborative environment where teachers can share ideas, strategies, and best practices related to curriculum delivery.
- Curriculum Implementation and Monitoring:
- Oversee the implementation of the curriculum across all grade levels and subject areas, ensuring consistency and continuity.
- Conduct classroom observations, analyze student performance data, and provide constructive feedback to teachers to ensure the curriculum is being delivered effectively.
- Monitor the integration of cross-curricular connections and ensure that content across subjects is coherent and progressive.
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Lead the development and implementation of formative and summative assessment strategies to evaluate student progress and curriculum effectiveness.
- Use data from assessments, student feedback, and teacher input to make data-driven decisions that enhance curriculum quality.
- Ensure that assessment practices are fair, consistent, and aligned with the learning objectives of the curriculum.
- Leadership and Strategy:
- Work closely with school leadership, including principals, department heads, and other key stakeholders, to ensure the curriculum supports the overall vision and strategic goals of the school.
- Participate in the development of the school’s academic policies and contribute to school-wide initiatives aimed at improving student achievement.
- Act as a champion for the curriculum, advocating for necessary resources, professional development, and innovations that will improve the quality of teaching and learning.
- Student-Centered Focus:
- Ensure that the curriculum is inclusive, equitable, and accessible to all students, meeting the needs of diverse learners, including students with special needs, English language learners, and gifted students.
- Promote student-centered learning experiences that encourage critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
- Support the integration of social-emotional learning (SEL), character development, and other holistic educational practices within the curriculum.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Regularly communicate with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders about curriculum changes, updates, and goals.
- Work collaboratively with other school leaders and staff to integrate various school programs (e.g., co-curricular activities, student support services) into the broader curriculum.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including educational bodies, accreditation agencies, and other schools, to stay current with educational trends and research.
- Innovation and Technology Integration:
- Lead efforts to integrate technology and digital tools into the curriculum to enhance student engagement, learning outcomes, and skill development.
- Encourage innovation in teaching practices and explore new instructional methods that promote active learning and student achievement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; Master’s degree or higher in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related area preferred.
- Teaching certification with significant experience in a classroom setting.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in teaching, with at least 3 years in a leadership or curriculum development role.
- Extensive knowledge of curriculum development, educational standards, assessment practices, and instructional strategies.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with educational technology and its integration into the curriculum.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth.

Work Environment:
