 Head of Faculty of Social Sciences

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and visionary academic leader to fill the role of Head of Faculty of Social Sciences. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and management to the faculty, ensuring academic excellence, innovation, and relevance in teaching, research, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Academic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and vision for the faculty, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and objectives.
2. Department Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the faculty, including staff supervision, budgeting, and resource allocation.
3. Curriculum Development: Oversee the development and implementation of social sciences curricula, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and accreditation standards.
4. Research and Scholarship: Promote and support research and scholarship within the faculty, including securing funding and publishing research outputs.
5. Student Experience: Enhance the student experience through innovative teaching, learning, and assessment practices, as well as providing pastoral support and guidance.
6. Collaboration and Partnerships: Build and maintain partnerships with external stakeholders, including industry partners, community organizations, and other academic institutions.
7. Staff Development: Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, providing opportunities for staff development and growth.
8. Budget Management: Manage the faculty budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and alignment with institutional financial plans.

Requirements

1. PhD: PhD in a relevant social sciences discipline.
2. Academic Experience: Proven academic experience, including teaching, research, and leadership roles.
3. Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff and students.
4. Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
5. Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically, with a focus on achieving institutional goals and objectives.

Desired Qualifications

1. Senior Leadership Experience: Proven senior leadership experience, including experience in academic management and leadership roles.
2. Research Expertise: Established research expertise in a relevant social sciences discipline.
3. Industry Partnerships: Experience in building and maintaining partnerships with industry partners and community organizations.
4. International Experience: Experience in international academic environments, including experience in teaching, research, and leadership roles.
