Head of Nursing Department
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to serve as our Head of Nursing Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the nursing department, overseeing the development and implementation of nursing policies, programs, and services, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
– Provide strategic leadership and vision for the nursing department, aligning with the organization’s mission and goals.
– Oversee the development and implementation of nursing policies, programs, and services.
– Lead and manage a team of nursing professionals, including nurse managers, nurse educators, and staff nurses.
– Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion among nursing staff.
Clinical Practice:
– Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, aligning with evidence-based practice and professional standards.
– Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
– Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
Education and Research:
– Oversee the development and implementation of nursing education programs, including orientation, continuing education, and professional development.
– Foster a culture of research and innovation, supporting nursing research and evidence-based practice.
– Collaborate with academic institutions to promote nursing education and research.
Quality and Safety:
– Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, aligning with quality and safety standards.
– Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
– Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to identify and address quality and safety issues.
Budgeting and Financial Management:
– Develop and manage the nursing department budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial management.
– Ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
– Master’s degree in Nursing or a related field.
– Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state.
– Minimum 5-7 years of experience in nursing leadership, including experience as a nurse manager or director.
– Proven track record of success in leading nursing departments and improving patient outcomes.
Skills:
– Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
– Ability to think strategically and make data-informed decisions.
– Experience with budget management and financial planning.
Knowledge:
– Strong knowledge of nursing practice, including clinical policies and procedures.
– Understanding of quality and safety standards, including regulatory requirements.
– Familiarity with nursing education and research, including evidence-based practice.
Desired Qualifications:
– Experience with Magnet designation or other quality recognition programs.
– Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs) and other healthcare technology.
– Experience with nursing workforce development and staffing.
