Information and Counseling Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Information and Counseling Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing information, guidance, and counseling services to students, staff, and faculty members on academic, personal, and social matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Information Services

1. Provide accurate and up-to-date information on academic programs, courses, and policies.
2. Respond to inquiries from students, staff, and faculty members on academic and non-academic matters.
3. Develop and maintain information resources, including print and online materials.
4. Ensure that all information provided is accurate, confidential, and respectful of individual differences.

Counseling Services

1. Provide counseling services to students, staff, and faculty members on personal, social, and academic matters.
2. Conduct intake assessments, develop counseling plans, and provide ongoing support and guidance.
3. Address issues related to mental health, well-being, and academic success.
4. Ensure that all counseling services are confidential, respectful, and sensitive to individual differences.

Referral Services

1. Identify and refer students, staff, and faculty members to relevant campus resources, including academic support services, mental health services, and student organizations.
2. Develop and maintain relationships with campus partners to ensure effective referrals and collaborations.
3. Ensure that all referrals are made in a timely, respectful, and confidential manner.

Program Development and Evaluation

1. Develop and implement programs and services to support student success, well-being, and academic achievement.
2. Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services, using data and feedback to inform future developments.
3. Collaborate with campus partners to develop and implement programs and services that support student success and well-being.

Requirements:

Qualifications

1. Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or related field.
2. Experience in counseling, advising, or related field.
3. Strong knowledge of academic policies, procedures, and programs.
4. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and counseling skills.

Experience

1. At least 2 years of experience in counseling, advising, or related field.
2. Experience working with diverse populations, including students, staff, and faculty members.
3. Experience developing and implementing programs and services to support student success and well-being.

Skills

1. Strong counseling and advising skills.
2. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
3. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
4. Strong organizational and time management skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

Qualifications

1. Doctoral degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or related field.
2. Experience working in a higher education setting.
3. Experience with program development and evaluation.

Experience

1. Experience working with students, staff, and faculty members from diverse backgrounds.
2. Experience developing and implementing programs and services to support student success and well-being.

Skills

1. Experience with counseling software and technology.
2. Experience with program evaluation and assessment.
