Job Summary:

The Islamiat Teacher is responsible for teaching Islamic Studies to students at the assigned school level (primary, secondary, or higher education). The role involves educating students on the core teachings of Islam, including the Quran, Hadith, Islamic history, ethics, jurisprudence (Fiqh), and other essential aspects of Islamic culture and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lesson Planning and Delivery:

    • Prepare and deliver engaging lessons on Islamic Studies, ensuring that all students understand the key concepts and teachings.
    • Develop lesson plans that are aligned with the curriculum standards and incorporate various teaching methods, including lectures, discussions, and multimedia resources.
    • Ensure that lessons are age-appropriate and relevant to the students’ academic level.
  2. Curriculum Development:

    • Contribute to the development of the Islamic Studies curriculum by suggesting improvements and updates based on current trends and best practices in education.
    • Teach subjects such as Quranic studies, the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Islamic history, the five pillars of Islam, Islamic ethics, and jurisprudence.
  3. Assessment and Evaluation:

    • Assess students’ progress through regular tests, assignments, and examinations.
    • Provide feedback and guidance to students to help improve their understanding of Islamic teachings.
    • Prepare progress reports for parents and school administrators.
  4. Classroom Management:

    • Maintain discipline and create a positive learning environment.
    • Ensure students’ active participation and respect during lessons.
    • Manage the classroom effectively to promote an inclusive and respectful atmosphere.
  5. Promote Islamic Values:

    • Integrate Islamic values and ethical teachings into the curriculum and day-to-day interactions.
    • Serve as a role model by demonstrating and promoting Islamic moral principles.
    • Encourage students to practice Islamic values in their daily lives.
  6. Parental and Community Engagement:

    • Communicate with parents and guardians regarding students’ performance and behavior.
    • Participate in school events and activities related to Islamic education.
    • Promote community involvement and understanding of Islamic values through extracurricular activities or events.
  7. Professional Development:

    • Stay updated with new research, educational methods, and developments in Islamic Studies.
    • Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to further enhance knowledge and teaching skills.
    • Collaborate with other educators to share best practices.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Islamic Studies, Education, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Relevant teaching certification (depending on the region).
  • Strong knowledge of Islamic principles, the Quran, Hadith, and Islamic history.
  • Previous teaching experience, preferably in Islamic education.
  • Familiarity with modern teaching methods and educational technology.
