Lecture Management Sciences

Job Summary:

A Lecturer in Management Sciences is responsible for providing high-quality academic instruction in the field of management, contributing to the advancement of knowledge through research, and participating in various academic and administrative activities. The role requires a commitment to both teaching and research, ensuring that students are engaged in a learning environment that fosters academic excellence. The lecturer will be expected to design and deliver courses, supervise student projects, engage in research activities, and contribute to departmental initiatives and the broader academic community.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching & Curriculum Delivery:
    • Course Planning & Delivery: Design and teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various areas of management sciences, including but not limited to business management, strategic management, marketing, operations management, human resource management, organizational behavior, and entrepreneurship.
    • Lecture Preparation: Prepare well-structured lesson plans and teaching materials, ensuring that the content is relevant, up-to-date, and aligned with the program objectives and institutional standards.
    • Interactive Teaching: Utilize diverse teaching methods such as lectures, seminars, case studies, group discussions, role-playing, and online learning to engage students and foster active learning. Ensure that lessons cater to different learning styles.
    • Course Evaluation: Assess student progress through assignments, quizzes, exams, presentations, and research projects. Provide timely and constructive feedback to help students improve their academic performance.
    • Course Development & Review: Collaborate with colleagues to develop new courses and revise existing ones. Ensure that course content aligns with industry trends and emerging topics in the field of management.
  2. Research & Scholarly Activity:
    • Research Production: Conduct independent and collaborative research in management sciences, contributing to the body of knowledge through high-quality publications in peer-reviewed academic journals. Areas of focus may include business strategy, organizational behavior, human resource management, marketing strategies, or entrepreneurship.
    • Research Dissemination: Present research findings at national and international academic conferences, workshops, and seminars. Participate in academic discussions to share knowledge and gain insights from other scholars in the field.
    • Research Supervision: Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in their research projects, guiding them through the process of formulating research questions, conducting literature reviews, data analysis, and presenting findings. Provide mentorship to students in developing their research skills.
    • Collaborative Research: Engage in interdisciplinary research by collaborating with faculty members within and outside the management sciences department. Develop research proposals to attract grants and funding for large-scale research projects.
  3. Student Engagement & Support:
    • Student Advising: Offer academic advising to students, helping them navigate their academic path, select courses, and plan their career development. Assist students in identifying opportunities for internships, research, and professional networking.
    • Student Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to students on academic, personal, and professional matters, contributing to their holistic development. Serve as a role model for students, inspiring them to achieve academic excellence and become responsible leaders in the business world.
    • Academic Assistance: Offer additional support to students who may be struggling with course content or academic challenges. This can include holding office hours, organizing review sessions, and offering individualized attention when necessary.
    • Assessment & Feedback: Grade assignments, exams, and projects fairly and efficiently. Provide detailed and constructive feedback to students, helping them understand their strengths and areas for improvement.
  4. Curriculum Development & Enhancement:
    • Program Improvement: Actively participate in curriculum development, review, and improvement processes. Contribute ideas for updating course content to reflect the latest trends, research, and practices in the field of management.
    • Accreditation and Quality Assurance: Participate in the accreditation processes of the department and university by ensuring that courses meet the academic standards required by accrediting bodies. Contribute to the ongoing evaluation of teaching effectiveness and the quality of student learning outcomes.
  5. Professional Development:
    • Ongoing Learning: Engage in continuous professional development by attending workshops, seminars, and training sessions. Stay up-to-date with the latest research methodologies, teaching strategies, and trends in management sciences.
    • Industry Connections: Build and maintain relationships with industry professionals, business leaders, and organizations. Incorporate real-world business case studies, guest speakers, and internships into the curriculum to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
    • Networking: Actively participate in academic and professional organizations related to management sciences. Attend conferences, symposiums, and other events to network with peers, researchers, and professionals in the field.
  6. Administrative Duties:
    • Committee Participation: Serve on academic committees within the department, faculty, or university. Contribute to departmental decision-making processes, curriculum planning, and the overall governance of the institution.
    • Academic Administration: Assist in administrative tasks such as organizing student assessments, maintaining student records, and preparing reports related to course performance and departmental activities.
    • Program Representation: Represent the department or university at various academic and professional events, ensuring the institution’s reputation for quality education and research in management sciences is upheld.
  7. Contributions to University Community:
    • Collaborative Teaching & Research: Engage with other departments and academic units to promote interdisciplinary teaching and research. Collaborate on research projects, student exchanges, and joint courses that benefit both students and faculty.
    • Institutional Service: Participate in various academic events and activities such as open days, orientation sessions, graduation ceremonies, and other university-wide initiatives that contribute to the overall student experience.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A Master’s degree or PhD in Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field is required. Preference may be given to candidates with a PhD or equivalent qualifications, particularly for senior lecturer positions.
  • Experience: Teaching experience at the undergraduate or postgraduate level is preferred. A strong research background, with publications in academic journals, is highly valued. Practical experience in the management or business field will be an advantage.
  • Research Excellence: Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality research and contribute to the academic community through publications and conference presentations.
  • Leadership & Mentoring: Proven ability to mentor and guide students in their academic and professional development. Strong leadership qualities, with experience in academic administration, are desirable.

  • Technological Proficiency: Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS) like Blackboard, Moodle, or Canvas, as well as basic software like Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and academic research tools.
  • Interpersonal & Collaborative Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students. Strong interpersonal skills for building positive relationships within the academic community.

Work Environment:

  • Position Type: Full-time, permanent or fixed-term based on institutional needs.
  • Location: Based in a university setting, with office hours and scheduled teaching hours during the academic term. Some flexibility may be allowed for research and administrative work.
