Lecturer – Computer Science
Job Description:
A Lecturer in Computer Science is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses, developing academic materials, supervising student projects, and contributing to the academic and administrative functions of the department. This role may also include conducting research, though research expectations vary by institution.
Key Responsibilities:

Teaching & Curriculum Development:

Deliver lectures, tutorials, and labs in core computer science subjects (e.g., programming, algorithms, databases, AI, machine learning).

Develop and update course materials, including assignments, exams, and online content.

Evaluate and grade student work fairly and consistently.

Student Support:

Provide academic advice and mentorship to students.

Supervise final-year projects, capstone projects, or postgraduate dissertations.

Academic Contribution:

Participate in course and program planning and review.

Stay current with developments in the field of computer science and integrate them into teaching.

Research & Scholarly Activity (if applicable):

Conduct research in an area of specialization within computer science.

Publish in peer-reviewed journals or conferences.

Apply for research funding (where required or supported).

Institutional Service:

Attend departmental meetings and serve on committees.

Participate in student recruitment, open days, and outreach programs.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field (Ph.D. may be required at some institutions).

Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals and emerging technologies.

Prior teaching or industry experience in computer science is preferred.

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, etc.
