Lecturer Education

Job Overview: The Lecturer in Education is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the field of education, conducting research, and contributing to the academic development of students. This position requires a deep understanding of educational theory, pedagogy, and practice, as well as the ability to mentor and support students in their academic and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching:

    • Deliver high-quality lectures, seminars, and tutorials in the field of education, including subjects such as educational psychology, curriculum development, teaching methods, educational technology, and assessment.
    • Design, prepare, and update course materials, including syllabi, assignments, and reading lists.
    • Provide students with a rich learning experience that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application.
    • Use a variety of teaching methods, including face-to-face, online, and blended learning approaches, to meet the diverse needs of students.
    • Supervise and support student research projects, dissertations, and theses (for graduate-level courses).
  • Assessment & Evaluation:

    • Develop and administer assessments, including exams, assignments, and presentations, to evaluate student performance.
    • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students on their academic work.
    • Grade and return student assignments in a fair and transparent manner.
    • Keep accurate records of student progress, attendance, and performance.
  • Research:

    • Engage in original research in the field of education, contributing to the academic body of knowledge.
    • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, books, and other academic publications.
    • Present research at academic conferences and seminars to share findings and develop professional networks.
    • Mentor students and colleagues in research-related activities, including helping students with research projects and dissertations.
  • Academic and Professional Development:

    • Participate in departmental meetings, faculty committees, and curriculum development activities.
    • Stay up-to-date with current trends, issues, and research in the field of education.
    • Attend and contribute to professional development workshops, seminars, and conferences.
    • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching methods and research capabilities.
  • Student Support and Mentorship:

    • Provide academic advising and mentoring to students, helping them with course selection, career planning, and professional development.
    • Offer guidance and support to students outside of class time during office hours or by appointment.
    • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.
  • Administration:

    • Contribute to the development and improvement of educational programs and curricula.
    • Participate in administrative tasks such as committee work, curriculum reviews, and accreditation processes.
    • Maintain accurate records of student performance, course materials, and academic planning.

Qualifications:

  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Education or a closely related field (required).
  • Previous teaching experience at the university or college level (preferred).
  • A strong research background with publications or research projects in the field of education.
  • Expertise in one or more areas of education (e.g., pedagogy, educational leadership, curriculum design, special education, etc.).
  • A commitment to student success and the ability to foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for education and the advancement of knowledge in the field.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and lecture for extended periods.
  • Ability to use a computer for grading, research, and communication.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position, typically Monday through Friday, with some evening or weekend work required for meetings, research, and professional development activities.
  • Academic year schedule with breaks between terms.
