Lecturer in Arabic

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Lecturer in Arabic to join our faculty. The successful candidate will teach Arabic language and literature courses, develop curriculum, and contribute to the growth and development of the Arabic program.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching: Teach Arabic language and literature courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
2. Curriculum Development: Develop and revise curriculum for Arabic language and literature courses.
3. Student Advising: Advise students on academic and career matters related to Arabic studies.
4. Research and Scholarship: Conduct research and publish scholarly articles in the field of Arabic language and literature.
5. Service: Participate in departmental, college, and university service, including committee work and community outreach.
6. Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and implement assessment and evaluation tools to measure student learning outcomes.

Requirements

1. Ph.D.: Earned Ph.D. in Arabic Language and Literature or a related field.
2. Teaching Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience in Arabic language and literature at the university level.
3. Language Proficiency: Native or near-native proficiency in Arabic.
4. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Cultural Competence: Ability to work effectively with students and colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Desired Qualifications

1. Experience with Language Instruction: Experience with language instruction methodologies and technologies.
2. Familiarity with Arabic Language and Literature: Familiarity with Arabic language and literature, including classical and modern texts.
3. Research and Publication Record: Established research and publication record in the field of Arabic language and literature.
4. Leadership Experience: Experience in leadership roles, such as department chair or program director.
5. Community Engagement: Experience with community outreach and engagement, including language instruction and cultural events.
