Montessori Directress

Job Summary:

A Montessori Directress is a trained and certified educator responsible for leading a Montessori classroom or school, guiding students, and implementing the Montessori method.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Classroom Leadership: Direct and supervise the classroom environment.
2. Lesson Planning: Prepare and implement individualized lesson plans.
3. Student Guidance: Observe, assess, and support students’ academic and personal growth.
4. Material Preparation: Prepare and maintain Montessori materials.
5. Parent Communication: Keep parents informed of student progress.
6. Staff Supervision: Manage and mentor assistant teachers or interns.
7. School Administration: Participate in school decision-making and policy development.
8. Community Building: Foster a sense of community among students, parents, and staff.

Skills and Qualifications:

1. Montessori certification (e.g., AMI, AMS, MACTE).
2. Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
3. Teaching experience (preferably in a Montessori setting).
4. Strong understanding of child development and learning theories.
5. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and observation skills.
6. Ability to adapt to individual learning styles and needs.
7. Leadership and management skills.

Montessori Specific Skills:

1. Knowledge of Montessori principles, methods, and materials.
2. Ability to create a prepared environment.
3. Understanding of the Four Planes of Development.
4. Familiarity with Montessori assessment tools.

Certifications/Licenses:

1. Montessori certification (e.g., AMI, AMS, MACTE)
