Job Description:

The Officer of Student Services is responsible for providing support and guidance to students throughout their academic journey, enhancing their overall experience within the institution. This role involves managing student services, offering academic and personal assistance, and coordinating student welfare programs. The Officer ensures that students have access to the resources and services they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support and Guidance:

    • Provide academic advising and counseling to students regarding course selection, academic performance, and university policies.

    • Offer personal support to students, helping them navigate personal challenges, mental health issues, or other concerns.

    • Serve as a primary point of contact for students in need of advice or assistance regarding their academic or personal well-being.

  • Student Engagement and Activities:

    • Organize and coordinate student events, activities, and programs designed to promote campus involvement and personal development.

    • Work closely with student organizations to foster a vibrant campus life and encourage student participation in extracurricular activities.

    • Develop and implement initiatives that enhance student retention, satisfaction, and engagement.

  • Welfare and Resources:

    • Ensure that students are aware of and have access to support resources, such as counseling services, academic tutoring, and career services.

    • Address student concerns and resolve issues related to student welfare, including housing, transportation, and campus facilities.

    • Collaborate with other departments to provide holistic support services for students, including health services and financial aid.

  • Communication and Collaboration:

    • Act as a liaison between students and university administration to relay concerns and feedback from students.

    • Maintain effective communication channels with faculty and staff to ensure student needs are being met.

    • Provide timely updates and information on student services, policies, and campus events.

  • Administrative Duties:

    • Maintain records of student interactions, support requests, and follow-up actions.

    • Assist with the administration of student services, including scheduling appointments, preparing reports, and tracking student progress.

    • Ensure the timely processing of student service requests, such as academic accommodations or grievance procedures.

  • Promote Diversity and Inclusion:

    • Work to create an inclusive and supportive environment for students from diverse backgrounds.

    • Organize programs that promote awareness of diversity, inclusion, and cultural sensitivity on campus.

    • Advocate for underrepresented groups and ensure that all students have access to equal opportunities and services.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.

  • Previous experience in student services, counseling, or higher education administration (2–5 years preferred).

  • Strong understanding of student needs, university policies, and student support systems.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
