Physics Teacher
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Physics Teacher to join our school community. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching physics to students in grades 9-12, developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, and contributing to the growth and development of the science department.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching
1. Teach physics to students in grades 9-12, including introductory and advanced courses.
2. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state and national standards.
3. Use a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, discussions, labs, and projects.
4. Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific literacy.
Curriculum Development
1. Contribute to the development and revision of the physics curriculum.
2. Collaborate with other science teachers to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal articulation.
3. Develop and implement assessments to measure student learning.
Student Support
1. Provide individualized support to students, including extra help sessions and tutoring.
2. Encourage students to participate in science fairs, competitions, and other extracurricular activities.
3. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Departmental Responsibilities
1. Participate in department meetings and contribute to the growth and development of the science department.
2. Collaborate with other teachers to develop and implement interdisciplinary projects.
3. Contribute to the development of the school’s STEM program.
Requirements
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Physics or a related field.
2. Teaching certification in Physics or a related field.
3. Minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience.
Skills
1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
2. Strong knowledge of physics content and pedagogy.
3. Ability to use technology to enhance instruction.
4. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Knowledge
1. Strong knowledge of physics principles, including mechanics, electromagnetism, and thermodynamics.
2. Knowledge of scientific inquiry and the scientific method.
3. Knowledge of educational technology and its applications in the classroom.
Desired Qualifications
Advanced Degree
1. Master’s degree in Physics or a related field.
2. Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) physics courses.
Experience
1. Experience teaching physics in a high school setting.
2. Experience developing and implementing curriculum.
3. Experience using educational technology to enhance instruction.
