Job Summary:
The Professor is a senior academic position that involves teaching, research, and service to the university and the community. The Professor is expected to provide leadership in their field, develop and teach courses, conduct original research, and contribute to the academic and administrative life of the university.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise.
2. Research: Conduct original research in their field, publish scholarly articles, and secure external funding to support research projects.
3. Service: Participate in departmental, college, and university service, including committee work, academic advising, and community outreach.
4. Curriculum Development: Develop and revise curricula to ensure relevance, rigor, and currency.
5. Student Supervision: Supervise undergraduate and graduate students, including thesis and dissertation supervision.
6. Academic Leadership: Provide leadership in their department, college, or university, including serving as department chair or director of a research center.
7. Professional Development: Stay current with developments in their field and pursue ongoing professional development.
Qualifications:
1. Education: Ph.D. or terminal degree in their field.
2. Experience: Significant teaching and research experience, typically 6-10 years.
3. Research: Established research program with a strong record of publication and external funding.
4. Teaching: Excellent teaching skills, with a strong record of student evaluation and teaching awards.
5. Service: Strong record of service to the university and the community.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. International Recognition: International recognition in their field, with a strong record of publication and presentation.
2. Leadership Experience: Experience in academic leadership positions, such as department chair or director of a research center.
3. Interdisciplinary Research: Experience with interdisciplinary research and collaboration.
