Position Overview:
A Professor of Law is a senior academic and legal expert responsible for teaching, research, and academic leadership within the field of law. This role involves delivering lectures, guiding students and junior faculty, conducting legal research, publishing scholarly work, and contributing to curriculum development. The Professor of Law plays a vital role in shaping future legal professionals and influencing public policy through thought leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching & Instruction:
    Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various areas of law (e.g., constitutional law, criminal law, corporate law, international law). Use lectures, case studies, debates, and simulations to engage students effectively.

  • Research & Publication:
    Conduct high-quality, original legal research. Publish articles, books, and papers in reputable law journals and contribute to the development of legal scholarship.

  • Curriculum Development:
    Design, revise, and update course content in alignment with legal developments, academic standards, and societal needs.

  • Student Mentorship:
    Supervise student research projects, theses, and dissertations. Provide academic guidance, career advice, and professional development support.

  • Institutional Service:
    Participate in faculty meetings, committees, accreditation processes, and strategic planning activities.

  • Public Engagement & Policy Contribution:
    Serve as a legal expert in media, public forums, or government consultations. Contribute to legal reform or policy-making where appropriate.

  • Collaboration:
    Work with legal professionals, alumni, NGOs, law firms, and government bodies to bridge academic knowledge and practice.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Law or a related field.

  • Extensive teaching and research experience, preferably with publications in reputed law journals.

  • Strong command over various legal disciplines and their practical applications.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and public speaking skills.

  • Ability to inspire and lead students, academic teams, and research initiatives.

  • Membership in relevant legal associations or bar councils is a plus.
