Senior Counsellor
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Counsellor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert counselling services to clients, supervising junior counsellors, and contributing to the development of the counselling program.
Key Responsibilities
Counselling Services
1. Provide expert counselling services to clients, including individual, group, and family therapy.
2. Conduct intake assessments and develop treatment plans for clients.
3. Provide crisis intervention and support services as needed.
4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
Supervision and Mentorship
1. Supervise and mentor junior counsellors, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills and expertise.
2. Conduct regular supervision sessions with junior counsellors to review cases, discuss challenges, and provide feedback.
3. Develop and implement training programs for junior counsellors.
Program Development
1. Contribute to the development and implementation of the counselling program, including the development of policies, procedures, and protocols.
2. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement integrated care models.
3. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure that the counselling program is meeting the needs of clients.
Client Advocacy
1. Advocate for the needs and rights of clients, including advocating for access to services and resources.
2. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure that clients receive comprehensive and coordinated care.
3. Provide education and support to clients and their families.
Requirements
Qualifications
1. Master’s degree in Counselling or a related field.
2. Professional certification in Counselling, such as LPC or LMFT.
3. Minimum 5 years of experience in counselling, including experience working with diverse populations.
Skills
1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
2. Strong assessment and treatment planning skills.
3. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
4. Ability to provide leadership and supervision to junior counsellors.
Knowledge
1. Strong knowledge of counselling theories, models, and techniques.
2. Knowledge of evidence-based practices and research-informed interventions.
3. Knowledge of cultural competence and diversity issues.
Desired Qualifications
Advanced Degree
1. Doctoral degree in Counselling or a related field.
2. Advanced certification in Counselling, such as ATR or RPT.
Experience
1. Minimum 10 years of experience in counselling, including experience working with diverse populations.
2. Experience working in a leadership or supervisory role.
Skills
1. Excellent leadership and management skills.
2. Strong program development and evaluation skills.
3. Ability to provide expert consultation and training to other healthcare professionals.
