SLS Montessori Teacher
Job Summary:
The SLS Montessori teacher will provide instruction and guidance to students in the Secondary Level Studies program, using the Montessori method and philosophy. The teacher will create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic excellence, social responsibility, and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lesson Planning: Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the Montessori curriculum and meet the needs of students.
2. Classroom Instruction: Provide instruction and guidance to students in the classroom, using the Montessori method and philosophy.
3. Student Assessment: Assess student progress and provide feedback that is constructive and supportive.
4. Classroom Management: Create and maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment that promotes social responsibility and academic excellence.
5. Communication: Communicate with parents and guardians about student progress and involve them in the educational process.
6. Professional Development: Pursue ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in Montessori education.
Qualifications:
1. Montessori Certification: Hold a Montessori certification for Secondary Level Studies (SLS).
2. Bachelor’s Degree: Hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, biology, mathematics).
3. Teaching Experience: Have experience teaching in a Montessori setting, preferably at the secondary level.
4. Knowledge: Have a strong understanding of the Montessori method and philosophy, as well as the curriculum and standards for Secondary Level Studies.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master’s Degree: Hold a master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, biology, mathematics).
2. Experience with Special Needs: Have experience teaching students with special needs.
3. Bilingualism: Be fluent in more than one language.
4. Leadership Experience: Have experience in a leadership role, such as a department chair or team leader.
